Is this considered as a Contact Adhesive? I'm fitting an Acrylic capped shower tray to ply wood.

Manufactures instructions are "Use installation compound adhesive or a suitable contact adhesive to cover the full area under the shower tray", would this be suitable?
Asked by: Snowster00
The Evo-Stik Gripfill adhesive is a solvent and cartridge based rubber resin adhesive that can be used to bond various materials such as wood, metal, plaster brick, concrete and some plastics in suitable applications as long as one of the surfaces being bonded is porous. The product is applied in beads to one surface after which the beads are flattened down during bonding and it dries from there. As such the product is not designed to be applied to the full area of the application and it is not classed as a Contact Adhesive.

Can this be used to stick small tiles to wooden sleepers externally?

The tiles are 20 x 20cm and i would like to stick them to a new pressure treated sleeper vertically and horizontally.

The Evo-Stik Gripfill Adhesive is a solvent based rubber resin adhesive that can be used for bonding various materials including wood, metal, concrete, plaster, plasterboard and some plastics among others. The product can be used in suitable external applications however it is not waterproof as such and so if the bond line is subject to moisture or water ingress it will de bond, consequently if the bond line is exposed it will need protecting. Other considerations are that if the wood is treated wood then the treatment in the wood may affect the bond in either the short or longer term and if the tiles are subject to foot traffic then they may crack as the adhesive is not designed to support the tiles from underneath when walked on.
