Do not purchase if you have metal/heavy handles - the internal mechanism isn't strong enough to hold them - so after installing into the door when I attached the handles the latch sags and the handles droop to a 45 degree position. It's simply not stiff enough to hold decent quality metal handles. Would expect this from a 99p latch but not one that's more expensive.

I had 23mm latches fitted in my oak doors 4 years ago and their quality was poor. Finding a latch that was this wide proved a pain in all the wholesale merchants I visited but Screwfix came up trumps. The assistant was very helpful allowing me to check they were correct before I purchased and their quality and action is far superior to the cheap ones that were initially installed. Yes the face plate is slightly deeper but this gives a solid finished product and it is very robust at a price you really can't quibble about.

I bought 6 a couple of years ago. Mechanism is very stiff in all of them almost from the word go. I didn't realise just how bad they were till, 2 years on, I got so fed up with them I have replaced them all with Yale from b and q which are just fabulous . . So smooth. If you do buy these, before fitting, check them by putting the spindle through them and try turning with your fingers. The yale turned easily, these do not.
