Tubular Latch Polished Nickel Effect 76mm
I bought a load of these to replace the manky old brass latches which were also covered in paint.
Firstly the body is slightly wider than the originals I was replacing. the hole in the door needed a few extra millimetres carefully removing.
Secondly the faceplate and strikeplate were fractionally larger so minor chisel work was required.
Thirdly as I have only just installed these I can't comment on the overall reliability but they feel solid enough and are currently working very well.

I've had my fingers burned buying cheap latches, resulting in people locked in rooms. I've now bought these latches, they appear more robust.

Quality tubular latch
I bought this latch to replace a cheaper quality latch that literally disintegrated and rendered the door locked in the closed position. Luckily the tradesperson who fitted the door was no exponent of the 'penny joint' principle and it was relatively easy to open the door. Goes to prove, however, that buying poor quality products such as the previously installed latch could cause significant headaches due to lack of reliability. This latch was not cheap, but obviously of much higher quality: I could fit it with peace of mind! To give the latch a 5 star rating for performance and reliability, I would wish to review in 20 or 30 years time .... or leave this as a task for my son!
