A great value router Needed a router to do kitchen worktops and this was lowest price 1/2 inch machine. 1/4 inch machines can't take a cutter long enough to do the job. This machine has performed well and has proved to be excellent value for money. The technology is older but it's still a bargain. 26 Feb 2015
Good Value Very reliable tool, handy, just great for the price. 12 Feb 2015
Titan Router Collet/bit issues I recently purchased the Titan Router and it certainly looks and feels good. However, it came with a 1/4 " collet which I couldn't get into the 1/2" chuck. It seemed too tight and I did not want to force it into the chuck. I therefore decided to abandon this idea and change my new set of 1/4" router bits to 1/2" - thinking they would fit much better! Having got them home guess what - they are too tight. Has anyone any suggestions - have I by some quirk got a 12mm chuck or am I expected to hammer the bits into the chuck??? All seems a bit strange having bought many tools form Screwfix which are all excellent. All the best for the new year everyone. 27 Dec 2014
Not for me. Bought this to do one job; kitchen worktop miters. (Have a Black and Decker router but it only has 1/4 inch chuck and you can only get 1/2 inch laminate router bits.) Tried this out on some ply and it seemed OK, so went ahead and used it on the laminate using a guide bought specially for the job. My tops were 616mm and the guide was marked and pegged and easily clamped in place. The cut on both edges went brilliantly. My only worry to this point was it was not possible to retract the router bit beyond the foot plate and it stuck-out beyond the plate by about 1cm. I then tried to match the surfaces and tighten together just like I'd seen in all the training videos on you tube. It just would not fit at the miter corner and had a 5mm gap. As much as I tried to sort the miter, I made it worse. After much doubt in my own ability I realised the router bit was not central and if you rotated the router along the length of the cut you got a wavy line and depending on rotation you could vary the cut depth up to 8mm, so there was no way these two surfaces were ever going to fit. A replacement had the same fault and a third the chuck did not operate. Take care you get what you pay for?? Fortunately due to 'good will' I did get compensation. The variable speed button can be easy to catch so on occasions machine felt under-powered only to find I'd changed speeds. 22 Dec 2014
