Rated 4 out of 5 by Good so far It is a little early to write a review as I have only completed my first project with the drill, the reason that I bought it. I gave my Record drill press, that I had had for years, away as I did not think that I would be doing jobs requiring it again. WRONG! So I needed a replacement that would do the lighter tasks that now seem to come my way without spending a fortune. The write ups for this drill gave me confidence to buy one particularly as it cost less than I was prepared to spend. Value for money it performs very well indeed, not exactly high precision in terms of depth measurement or weight of metal but it is sturdy and drills well and easily. It is good to have an engineering vice included in the price, once again, made of quite light weight metal but set up according to instructions it works well. You don't have to go and buy another expensive piece of equipment. It says that it is not for commercial usage but it does a good job at a very satisfactory price what more can one ask? I would hopefully be able to give more stars once I have longer experience of it. 21 Dec 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Drill for money Bought this on Deal of Day, great value. The base and table aren't cast iron but do the job for most jobs, The motor is much stronger than most budget drills. The little machine vice is a nice bonus. 12 Dec 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by low quality Order & delivery good. unable to assemble due to bolts securing support to base too short & one of the threads in base not being correct. Returned & replaced in good time. On assembling 2nd drill plastic safety guard broke whilst attempting to screw very low quality screws with rubbish screw heads. Using it without the safety cover, does the job as described but is of low quality 3 Dec 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Value For Money I was going to purchase the bigger brother of this pillar drill but having assessed the space available went for this one instead. At the full price, this is great value for money but I did manage to get it on a 'Deal of the Day' so even better! As others have mentioned, the castings are a bit rough around the edges but goes together reasonably well. You do have to be careful mounting the head as there is a small amount of play so takes a little adjustment to get it at 90 degrees with the pillar. On first use it was extremely loud and rattly but this was just down to the belt cover not being a terribly good fit. I just stuck some foam draught excluder around the edges to fix this little annoyance. I also lubricated the action as it was a little 'grabby' out of the box. The chuck is of decent quality and there is negligible play so drilling is more than accurate enough. In fact it has shown me that several of my bits were less than straight - something I hadn't noticed with a hand power drill. So far, primarily drilling wood and a bit of steel it has performed well. I've used up to a 38mm hole saw which it had no trouble handling at the lowest speed. The only feature I would have liked would be a crank handle to raise and lower the table but at the price, that is only an observation! The pic also shows a basic fence I knocked up out of some scrap so that I don't have to use the vice for positioning. A 'must have' in my opinion. 30 Nov 2015

Hi Rejj,

Just had a response from the warehouse, they've measured it up and said it's 140mm x 1400mm x 80mm.

What are the length and width of the base? The dimensions are given as 610mm depth but this doesn't look right in the photo, given the table dimensions. I have limited space on my bench and need accurate dimensions please.

Answer:
Probably 2.3mm. It will easily grip a 2.5 mm but not a 2.0 mm. I don't have a 2.3 mm to try it.
