Rated 5 out of 5 by from You have to be impressed! Having assembled this drill today and used it to drill a few holes of various sizes and types (in wood only up to now), i am very impressed with both the look of the drill, and its performance. Having spent many weeks reviewing the alternatives, including the more expensive well known favourites, one cannot fail to be impressed with the size of the power unit, depth of travel and throat depth which is comparable, and often exceeding its much more expensive rivals. I accept that this may not be a high end precision engineering drill as some reviewers have already pointed out but but the average user requiring good performance coupled with a very competitive price and a two year warranty (which reflects the manufacturers confidence in their product), i believe you cannot go wrong. I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice piece of kit. Great for any workshop. This has replaced a smaller one, in my workshop, and I can't fault it. It is quite tall and, as other reviews have stated, and you may have to install a lower bench for it. I will by 6" to allow safer usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from That's a whole lot of drill... Set up and install was straightforward, everything needed other than some lag bolts to fasten the base to our bench is in the box. It's tall though! We're going to have to build a dedicated stand to bring the whole thing down 6" so some of our team can use it without stretching. Major plus point is that, even at 700W, the motor is nearly silent. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returned it. Wanted the item quickly so drove to the nearest store that had it in stock which was an hour away. Box was a bit shabby, got home and the polystyrene that divides each part was destroyed, all parts and screws were out of their bag and rolling around the box, the headstock had a large dent at the fan and the table arm had a 2 inch crack at the side of it. Organised the free carrier pick up that screwfix offers for damaged/faulty parts and awaiting refund. Reading the other reviews the drill seems ok so I think this has just been "mis-handled" at this particular store. PS Screwfix emailed me to ask for this review.

Can I use smaller than 3mm bits

Can I reduce the chuck size in this model somehow? It seems that most pillar drills only go down to about 1.5mm.
Asked by: QuadP
Hello QuadP, On this drill press the chuck size does only go to 3mm and goes up to 16 so there is no way of making it smaller. Thank you for using Q&A

I need Laser adjustment settings. PLEASE.

I have gone to make a precision hole in wood only to find that the laser ( one reason I bought it ! ), is off by a couple of mm. ( as stated by phil2310 ..and unanswered). There MUST surely be a way to adjust the aim of the laser ? PLEASE.
Asked by: taffsandy
Hi Anonymous in Camborne, We are sorry to hear of the problems that you are having with the laser. I have received a document from the manufacturer which shows how to adjust the laser alignment. It appears to be simply a case of loosening the clamping screw on the side of the laser unit and adjusting the angle with long-nosed pliers. Once satisfactorily aligned, the clamping screw is tightened. If you would like a copy of this document please email us at Thanks for using Screwfix Q&A. JT

Laser Setting

The drill press comes with a twin cross line laser, but it does not say in the instruction manual that came with the drill how to set the laser. Currently the laser lines cross each other about 40mm behind the drill bit!
Asked by: Phil2310
I had a similar problem which was easily resolved. 1. Loosen the plastic clamps holding the laser light barrels by undoing the screws. 2. Move/Rotate ( I did it by hand) the brass coloured barrels containing the laser light to the position you want. 3. Tighten the screws. Job done.
