I need to cut the side of a piece of plywood at a 45 degree angle, can the angle of the metal guide be angled?

Hi Luke12345, yes the angle of the baseplate can be varied for bevel angles between 0 and 45 degrees.

i believe chip board below the laminate. need to cut a hole for a sink.
are the blades stiff. as i understand that if the blades are too bendy the cut is not parallel.

Answer: 
The Max cut in wood is 100mm, so it should go through 40mm of chipboard. It also comes with a parallel guide with should help cut in a straight line
