Rated 4 out of 5 by Great value tools, but ... This is a great drill and punches well above it's weight for the price. I needed to get through an old concrete base that my old B&D drill would not even scratch. This drill just went straight in. There is a good tool set with it, depending on whether you buy the 278 or the 279 set (the drill is the same for both) Now I come to the "but..." My first drill had a fault. After putting it away for a while it refused to start but I did not see the fault until after the warranty had expired. It might be a connection, maybe the switch. Screwfix does not support spares or repairs but offers a 2 year warranty. I think their position is that if it could be repaired, the cost of doing so would probably be more than the cost of replacement so if you you buy with this knowledge and check that it is still working throughout the warranty period you can't go wrong. I have just bought another one... 3 Feb 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hammer Drill Excellent drill. Made quick work of lifting porcelain floor tiles and 110mm M10 drill holes for anchor bolts. 1 Feb 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb Kit I would highly recommend this drill, it is well constructed and hasn't missed a beat in a year of hard use. This drill is a beast and great value for money. 19 Jan 2016

Hello,

The main difference is that the TTB279SDS is the newer model.

The attachments provided with the products are also different as they new model comes with 18 Piece Accessory Kit, where as the TTB278SDS has a 9 Piece Accessory Kit.

Hello.

You will have to check the specification of the "Box Sinker" as they may or may not be suitable for SDS drills.

I need to drill some 100mm cores through standard brick walls and tougher 'Bradstone' blocks. Should I buy this or the cheaper Energer ENB465DRH http://www.screwfix.com/p/energer-enb465drh-4-8kg-sds-plus-rotary-hammer-drill-230-240v/63303 ?

The drill will only have occasional DIY use after the 6 cores have been drilled.
