Rated 1 out of 5Â by Boatyboy LED failed
I replaced lights in kitchen with these 7.5w LED 2 years ago. One today started to flicker and one of the three LEDs in the grouping was not working. Supposed to have a 5 year guarantee. Likely cost savings of using these versus standard Halogen may not be as expected. (Although price is now 50% of what they were 2 years ago)

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Lifeupaladder Cheap to run lighting
I have bought 15 of these bulbs in the past 2 years and 3 of them have failed to date - much shorter life than advertised. I note that the latest replacement has a 3 year garantee so will be keeping the receipt and the box. The lamps themselves are very effective and emit a warm white light and at only 7.5w are cheap to run.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by PH1970 Great 50W halogen replacement
Performance - I bought 22 of these so quite an outlay. I spent some time researching all the claimed 50w capable halogen replacements. Unless you are willing to try each one yourself you have to go by these recommendations. I've no regrets at all. The performance is great and the light they produce looks much whiter and 'posher' than the previous halogens. I went for the warm whites. The 40 degree spread is also good.
Energy Saving - As I said I bought 22 off. That meant a running cost reduced from 1100w consumption down to a mere 165w. Screwfix were the cheapest at my time of purchase although their price has now dropped. Better deals if you hunt around. Based on this at 3 hours use per day I could get pay back in two years.
The fit - I was worried that they may not fit in my lamp fitting and looked carefully into this as well. The height etc was perfect but for some reason the main body diameter of the bulb was very close on one or two but this could also be the variance on the fitting. If you can I'd take a fitting into the shop the be sure.
Reliability - No issues with the 16 off fitted 9 months ago. I fitted the other 6 about 4 months ago and one started to flicker and fail. They are guaranteed for 5 years and there was absolutely no issues replacing it at screwfix.
Overall - Costly, but if you intend staying in your home would definitely recommend.
