Who actually uses the facility of mixer taps? Very few. So for a two hole sink unit these are a far better answer.

On the upside, these taps are pretty cheap. But why should that necessarily mean poor quality? I bought a pair and one started dripping as soon as I plumbed it in. A brand new tap valve that leaks? That doesn't bode well; after all, it's a pretty easy thing to get right, so low price is not an excuse.
I didn't want the hassle of removing them, taking them back and fitting new ones, so I thought I'd just change the valve myself. But it seems Swirl have already thought of that. The valves were screwed in so unbelievably tight that I just couldn't get them undone, short of taking the taps out and putting them in a vice. What on earth is the point of that? Again, poor quality control in the manufacturing. So I'm betting I'm going to have problems with these in the future.
To be fair, I may have been unlucky with this particular pair. I've bought Swirl stuff before and it's been ok. So I'm hoping that this is not part of the general trend toward poorer and poorer quality in manufactured products generally.
