Sterling Replacement Van Lock Padlock
Solid and Reliable
Simple, sturdy and secure. A no-nonsense product. Excellent that Screwfix sell the replacement part rather than obliging you to purchase the whole lock.

Solid but failed in 5 minutes.
Fitted this heavy lock to my new workshop in Nov 2011. In May 2013 I opened my door and the brass key broke off leaving the full length in the plunger. With the lock placed back in the hasp and an open door that cant be closed, what to do? Thought I'd never break this one, but a 12mm bit in a corded drill, on the lowest speed, bored out the plunger in 5 minutes. Imagine an equipped thief, not making a lot of noise either, with a battery drill? The weak spot with this, and all other locks that use brass for the plungers or bodies, is, the brass? The steel body of the lock is rock solid and the two-piece clasp is fair, but easily cut (a thief would have to make a lot of noise grinding this bit).. I've now ground this down slightly, very easily too, with a 115mm grinder to make room for a sturdier, more conventionall pad lock. Will now be fitting the Screwfix product, no. 52992, to back up this lock, which has been reviewed very favourably by others here. BUYER BEWARE of any locks with brass plungers/bodies if you want to keep the more prepared thiefs out?.

Stops the scum bags stealing the contents from my van. Keep it well greased though with machine grease or it will stick.
