This is a good quality little closer that seems well made in sturdy materials. Hopefully it will last outside and it looks so much better than those naff springs. Chuck the screws - screws that come with items like this are never up to the job and invariably the heads will fall off! They are easy to fit, but, be warned, the barrel must be at least in line with the butt of the hinges to work, and this is sometimes difficult if drop on strap hinges are used as the butt is a long way to one side. The other thing to watch out for is that the arm is quite short, so if they have to be mounted too far to one side of the gate the closing effect is greatly reduced. I doubt that they would close as heavy gates as claimed in any case, but none the less a nice little closer. Ideal for lightweight internal doors, small garden gates preferably hinged with butt or T hinges. They work well as closers but do have a tendency to slam the gates when correctly adjusted and this can lead to the latch not catching first time, some sort of damping on the gate stop can resolve this.
They look and feel like they will last, but I fully expect to have to adjust them after a little while and they have settled.
I would have given five stars if the arm was a little longer and the screws were'nt so rubbish.

All to often people fit more substantial door closures thinking they need 1hr plus fire protection, all to often this is not required so fitting these units work well even on busy doors, I have fitted three of these on doors to toilets in a friends pub over a year ago and they are still working well.

Had trouble fitting it because the screws would shear & had to adjust it a few times because it stopped working. It seems alright now it's been sorted.
