Got this to take the chill off of a big double garage and it does the job well. It is easy to light and is up and running in 15-20 seconds. It warms a big volume very well, but it is loud. No problem for me as I put it out of sight at the far end of the garage. Surprisingly the body of the heater is cool when in use so it must be well insulated too. All in all a good product that does the job for a good price. Don't be put off by the poor reviews.

Everything is good about this product except the quality checks during manufacture. This is the second unit as the first took intolerably long to start holding the button in for up to six minutes. On phoning the Stanley hot line nobody getting back and on a 0845 line too, this should be free and even when told about the reliability issue they had no idea other people had the same issues even though there were complains on the net.

I need to heat a double garage with roof space and my current gas heater hasn't got the btu capacity to do this.
The Stanley 16.1 ignites quickly (7 seconds) and came with a thumbturn propane regulator, which does not need a spanner to utilise - meaning that the occasional user can tighten it easily without tools.
The three heat settings chuck out enough hot air to quickly warm my workshop, but the downside is the noise of the fan. This is very subjective, but I prefer quiet to concentrate on my work so only have this heater on when first in the workshop (10 mins), and use my silent gas heater to keep everything warm from then on.
Have used it for a week and it has made a significant difference to my comfort level and the speed that the workshop warms up - it does what I bought it for.

As some of the other reviews say, you have to hold the knob in for 30 seconds after lighting... It doesn't sound that bad but it isn't always 30 seconds, someitmes a minute or more. After the fourth time of counting to 30, holding it in and it still going out your pretty fed up, not to mention cold. This seems a pointless feature and ruins what could be a good product! I'll be returning mine and buying another make.
