Rated 3 out of 5Â by EWMP Good, but not Estwing good
I like this hammer, it is heavy and can therefore drive large nails quickly and easily. The magnetic nail starter works and will hold larger nails (100mm+ bright round wire nails). It also has the added bonus that most of the other guys on site find it hard to use as it is too heavy for them so I don't have labourers asking to borrow my hammer any more.
However there are one or two problems when compared to estwing hammers of similar size:
1. Not as well balanced, the shaft is much bulkier, so it doesn't have the nice feel of estwing framing hammers.
2. Milled face not as robust / made from softer steel, after a couple of months of daily use framing and shuttering the milled face has all but disappeared. Also cleaning concrete off timber using the shaft is already noticeably wearing the shaft.
Despite the problems it is still much cheaper than an estwing hammer and performs almost as well so still a decent buy.
