Rated 5 out of 5 by Good for what it is! First of all if you want an absolute precision square then forget any of these type of squares...if they have moving parts, they may come very close to but can never quite match the precision of a fixed good quality square. I was trained as a Church Organ Builder in my youth so precision was often down to 1/1000th of an inch which requires a high quality precise fixed square to get timber that accurate. However, although this is not the type of tool I'd normally purchase, I went out today and purchased one of these to save me time on a large amount of measured marking out I have over the next couple of weeks and for what it is, it's surprisingly good and the one I got is just about as accurate as a decent square over its working length so I'm not only surprised but also more than happy with my purchase which no doubt will pay for itself in time saving in the coming days. I noticed that a few reviewers complained about its accuracy but I 'flip' tested mine (after loosening and tightening it and adjusting the length several times) on an already dressed and perfectly cut piece of timber 200mm wide and it was spot on both across and square across the edge so all is good, especially at the price.. The square is solidly made, tightens up well with no flexing and the built in level is acceptably accurate too so no problems there! I've not bothered with the in-built scribe but did try the 45 degree angle and it seems fine too but in any case I have electronic angle measures, accurate to 0.1 of a degree so when it comes to precision, I will rely upon those. All in all, for the price you can't really go wrong with this tool. Keep it clean to avoid dirt and debris entering the slide slot which could introduce inaccuracy when tightening and all should be good for many years if looked after. 25 Sep 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stanley Combination Square Great product better than the other combination squares sold by Screwfix although more expensive. The handle more robust, the locking mechanism better and its bright yellow meaning I can find it easily in tool box and when put down outside. 24 Feb 2016
