Rated 4 out of 5 by from Razorsharp by name.... I saw these recommended in a gardening magazine as back ups to a professional brand. These are just as good. Absolutely razor-sharp and keep a good edge. Taken on some pretty decent sized branches with ease. The two steps opening (part of the catch) doesn't really do anything for me and it's the catch that loses a star for these secateurs. It seems to like to close itself. Maybe this can be rectified by a little tightening. Huge advantage of these particular secateurs though is spares i.e. replacement blades are avaliable. Very highly recommended for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good secateurs These secatuers bear a striking resemblance to a more famous five-lettered brand. In fact, it looks like they may even be identical, bar the logo on these. Anyway, cheap plastic secateurs, of which I have had many pairs, are proof of the old adage “buy cheap, buy twice”. Not cheap, these are well worth the money. The steel blade, razor sharp straight out the box, is capable of tackling branches up to 25mm thick (obviously, this depends on the type of shrub or tree being cut). For rose and fruit tree pruning, however, these are perfect and give a good clean cut. You can use these secateurs whilst wearing thick gardening gloves, and the handles fit comfortably in the hand. The handles are red, which makes it easy to spot this tool after you’ve put it down in a garden littered with cuttings. Given the resinous sap in some plants / trees, it is worth giving the blade a wipe over with white spirit every now and then to remove it, and WD40 to keep the metalwork rust-free. One problem I encountered was that the stainless steel handle separating spring popped out and didn’t seem to be fixed so that this could not happen again; so check it’s fully home before using. This knocks points off a full five-star rating. Overall, good secateurs, more than capable of handling domestic gardening jobs. To be recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Secateurs Bought these to replace a set of Spear and Jackson Ratchet Anvil Secateurs Product Code: 28019. Whose ratchet mechanism broke. Only used them for one day, adequate but more effort required to cut larger shoots
