Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secure assured Easy start reliable screws that can used for stud work and general construction with confidence no splitting and close to edge fixing, have used for all jobs where I need to trust a secure fix and offer reasonable resistance to breaking with side impact. I would highly recommend to all

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid reliable fixing Bought a box of these to fix sole plates of stud wall to the floor and they are just great! However, I thought I'd be gentle to the wood and drilled pilot holes for the screws which was a big mistake. Even though the pilot holes were tight, the sole plate moved when I kicked it due to the screw being 'loose' in the pilot hole. Problem was solved by simply following the instructions and drilling straight through the sole plate and into the floor, relying on the screw's technology to self-pilot, self-countersink and to not split the wood, all of which they do very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spax® Single Thread Woodscrews These Spax screws were used by Tommy Walsh when building his 'Ultimate Workshop' and were my first choice for my timber frame workshop. They make construction quick and easy, as there is no need to drill pilot holes or countersink for the head. Once they bite, they simply drill their own way into the timber and the best bit, actually pull the timbers together as they reach home. Even when used close to an edge, there is no splitting of the timber. I've used various sizes during my project and would highly recommend these screws. They aren't the cheapest of their type available, but I feel well worth the money. Mike.
