Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too clever for its own good I've probably got through 10 to 20 cans of foam in my time. Not massive but enough to know that a 50p sized dollop of no nonsense foam will become the size of a baby elephant as soon as you turn your back. I love the standard version of this product- it's low expansion, quick drying and solid as a rock. So I thought this would be even better- the can promises a lot, after all! This is a very different product. First of all- Its blue. So if you drop it on a carpet, you're screwed. In fact all the slight spills you make suddenly become really painfully obvious. Even more so because you're the pretentious prat with blue foam. Secondly it's flexible. Which basically means it never dries. So i foamed in a door frame that had a bit of play, it still has play. When you try to cut it off, it flexes and rips instead of cutting. The blue dollop on your floor that you thought you could pop off? It's like chewing gum. It dries so slowly. Do a load of foaming grab a brew come back and it's all dry? You might as well have a dump, take a nap, double check it and then come back tomorrow. It doesn't seem to fill gaps as well as the white version of this does either. Hard to quantify this and maybe it gets better with practise but right now I can't wait to empty this can and put the standard version back on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Brilliant product, lovely consistency, stuck approx five 8'x4' plasterboard sheets per can, excellent adhesion qualities (even done a small test piece on distemper ceiling) and very low expansion

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not a Low expansion! This foam is pretty good considering you use it specifically for intended purpose. It's a closed cell foam curing to flexible "sponge rubber" texture. Being such, its not suited for fixing applications, but excels in thermal and sound insulation departments - much better than rigid fixing foam will do. My only gripe with it that according to description I've expected a low expansion foam (they even advertised "what you see is what you get" application). But its clearly not - since it expands almost twice original volume slowly over hour or two (because its pretty slow-curing). What makes it worse is that it seem to have uneven expansion ratio - significantly more on large beads so its very hard to predict the end result and you most likely will undefill or have to trim (trimming is very easy though because of soft rubber texture). I would call it medium expansion maybe, but certainly not *low* expansion. If you want truly low expansion, I'd instead recommend "No Nonsense Sticky Foam" - this one almost completely stops expanding after 5 mins and give you truly "what you see is what you'll get" application ability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super foam Brilliant foam, expands slowly and never makes a mess, even easy to remove from brick work once cured

Is this foam Closed or Open celled - Usage - Coverage

Is the product Open or Closed cell? Does this product spray, i.e. could I spray a vehicle inner door panel and control the depth of foam. If it can be sprayed, what sort of coverage would a canister of this foam cover.
Asked by: Camperepairs
Thank you for the question. The cell structure of this foam is 30% closed cell, 70% open cell. This product is not a spray foam which is applied in the main 'layer by layer', it's linear by application. Coverage wise, the 750ml can offers a box yield of approx. 30L, and a joint yield of approx. 21m. I hope this helps. Many thanks.

Do I have to buy a gun to use this product?

Asked by: Martin100
Yes, all cartridges marked "Gun Grade" require a gun, this makes the foam delivery much more controllable. The gun be left on the cartridge for a month or more for repeat intermittent usage, a great system.

re using foam

can I simply disconnect and reconnect the applicator to foam cartridge - I have a lot of little jobs to do anmd I am worried that the foam will harden quicker when 'applicator' is removed?
Asked by: Rsonista
The foam will not usually harden if you leave it connected to the gun as it does not "see" the air and start to cure until it comes out of the nozzle. If you separate the 2 the foam will harden both in the gun (bad news) and in the end of the can. If for some reason you need to use 2 different types of foam, I recommend using 2 guns, and leave them always attached (even when empty, until a new can is fitted).
