Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to apply wood preserver I bought this to preserve the wood of a new 12 x 10 summerhouse. It is really easy to apply - I used a normal garden pressurised spray. I got one and a half coats out of the 5 litres, so need to collect some more, but it is a large building. No change in colour of the wood and leaves a nice even finish without runs. Recommended. 18 Dec 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good quality product Bought this to varnish a wooden arbour in preparation for harsher climate over winter. Dries quickly - OK to apply an extra coat after 1-2 hours. Used two coats on existing original wood and looks a good job. 28 Sep 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sika Wood Preserver Excellent product and did what it said on the tin! 14 Aug 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great wood preservative Goes on easily, soaks into end grain very well, dries pretty quickly, and doesn't affect the appearance of the wood. Just bought my second 5 litre tin in a few weeks whilst I'm completing a decking project - so have used lots of this wood preserver on the sub frame and the cut ends of the decking. I'm very happy with it so far and pleased to recommend it , but have only marked down on reliability because I won't know the answer for a few years (hopefully). 14 Aug 2015

Answer:
Sikaguard Wood Preserver does not actually 'waterproof' or provide any waterproof coating but it is absorbed into the timber preventing wood rot, mould and fungal growth.
A new timber building is normally treated in some way and maybe the manufacturer can guide you on this but if not you can apply a preservative such as the Sika one then paint over the top.
Many of the external wood paints & stains for fences and sheds provide a water resistance and Screwfix do also sell a wood 'treatment' in their No Nonsense brand which provides a 'water repellent' coating.

Answer:
The product can be spray applied but we have never tested it with specific paint sprayers and neither have we tested the viscosity.
It does however have the general viscosity in the region of water, we call it “water thin” as it should not vary much from water. If the sprayer will spray water then it SHOULD spray our product provided it does not cause it to 'foam' and be sure to use all appropriate personal protective equipment. Answer:
You can paint over the wood preserver but make sure its thoroughly dry and test it first in an inconspicuous area first just to be sure as we haven't specifically tested its compatibility with coatings from other manufacturers.
