Rated 5 out of 5 by from It worked I had some troubling noises coming from the pipes leading into my radiators. After bleeding them, this got no better. I don't remember my heating system ever being cleaned and we've had it for over 15years. I didn't really have the money for a powerflush, so I decided to give this a try. We have a sealed combi system, so I turned off the boiler and figured out how to drain the whole system. Thankfully I have a bleed valve directly outside my boiler, so I opened it and opened the upstairs radiator valves and finally the downstairs one to let the air out and allow all the water to flow out of the outside drain valve. (If you don't have a drain valve near your boiler, you might have a radiator with a drain valve at the bottom, you can attach a hose to it with a jubilee clip and drain it that way) Then, I isolated the radiator closest to the boiler and poured in the whole bottle of x400 with a fill kit after removing one of the radiator valves. Refilled and turned the heating on to let the x400 circulate, bleeding the radiators to remove trapped air. It's been less than 24 hours but already the worrying sounds from the pipes has seemed to go down and radiators which were previously lukewarm at best are now much hotter. I'm going to leave the x400 in the system for a few more days before draining and flushing with fresh water. *Remember to top up the system with a suitable inhibitor after you've flushed the x400 out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Restoring old central heating Using it in an old central heating system which has not been cleaned in decades. Will leave in the system for 4 weeks. May be my imagination, but after a couple of days, already there seems to be an improvement in some of the radiator cold spots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good I used it again Second time using this first was several years ago. It worked well then. I have come up against a rather stubborn blockage in very old system and put the two bottles in an empty system. Topped up with water. Early days yet but previous cold spots are showing signs of warmth after only two days. Will keep my fingers crossed

HEAT EXCHANGER

I have a 3 year old combi and the water was running hot and then cold due to the heat exchanger being blocked and this was replaced, would Sentinal system cleaner have cleaned that out ? Anyone else got the hot water working again by using this stuff ?
Asked by: dagnabit
Hello there, Sentinel cleaners were developed to clean the closed side of the heating system, not the hot water side, so our cleaners would not have any effect. Kind regards, Liam
