Rated 5 out of 5 by from scheppach dmt450 What a brilliant machine for the money. I'm new to woodturning and jolly glad I picked this one. It's quiet, robust easy to use even for the begginer. Within an hour of setting up I had made an auctioneers gavel. Just remember to keep chisels sharp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from pure adrenalin rush never used a lathe before in my life but took a real urge to take up a hobby. Read a bit for to try and get tips on what to look for. Heavy body multi speed and practice was the answer. Well this medium baby definately fitted the bill. Good solid cast body and after a bit of practice easily adjustable speed control. The surprise comes with just switching on the lathe so quiet and no vibration. So with out delay put in a couple of pieces of wood and away I went really easy to use with a very versatile guide to help with resting and guide position of chisel. Have only give 4 stars for features and reliability as have not got lathe long enough but do not envisage and problems. As for features a chuck would be a nice addition or even a adjustable bowl plate as already have confidence in lathe to attempt real wood turning. Overall I would recommend this beauty to anybody. Keep it up screwfix your the best addition to N Ireland in years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wood turning Fantastic machine pics don't do it justice, it is quite big and it's powerful too would say drop the price as I found out I could have got it cheaper with free postage too but still great machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal Beginers lathe Received this as a Christmas present last year having never used a wood lathe, A solid piece of kit that hasn't let me down at all in a year of regular use, heavy enough to use without bolting it down although that might be a wise precaution. The 8tpi spindle gives the option of plenty of attachments and i recommend a chuck as a must to go with the machine. Instructions could be better tho , plenty of common sense safety notices & the EU conformance notices but not much info on how to set up and operate the machine.

Lathe speed

Anyone got a problem with the lathe running at 3000rpm? Mine will turn with the belts set at 3000rpm but only spins very slow. Cant get up to speed.
Asked by: Scouse67
Hi This sounds like the capacitor could possibly be faulty , please try a new capacitor 8 uf .

How do you lock the spindle

How do you lock the spindle because that wimpy rod tool just bends And I've got the faceplate stuck on the spindle
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Please use the long holding mandrel with the ball knob , not the little short rod , with this there should be no problems holding and loosening the chuck , assuming you also have the correct spanner provided . There is no other way . If you require a new holding mandrell please call the help line tel number provided on the machine box or your local sfx store .
