I've used this as strapping and bracing for a big timber shed on dwarf wall. This is the good stuff, stainless steel, which means it can be hammered to shape more. In most cases the galvanised alternative will be sufficient and slightly cheaper. Use this stuff when it's permanent.

How did i hang xmas lights from plastic soffits without making holes
cut a short 4 or 5 hole length (use tin snips) of builders band
bend the end over and flatten it with pliers to remove one sharp edge
slide this into the gap on the underside of the plastic panel between the front trim panel and the box section
and hang your lights on the first hole that is protruding
the strip should hold as an interference fit, a slight kink by hand or pliers may be needed to acheive this if the gap is larger.
when the xmas lights come down slide out the strips
