Rubi Star 50N Plus Tile Cutter
Nice bit of kit, but for price might have been nice to have spare cutting blade. Tile cutter box is a good size allowing you to put small tiling tools in.

Basic but excellent
I've got a Rubi TS40 that I have used extensively for years which is excellent, but that range is around double this price. I needed a larger cutter for some 45cm floor tiles and, having suffered cheap cutters in the past settled on this one. It's an entry level model, with some bits being made in plastic (the measuring aids, not the important bits). I also found it harder to view the cutting blade. However, these are just nitpicking. The cut quality is excellent and dead straight and the breaking action works well. I would never buy anything other than Rubi stuff again, although doubt I'll ever need to as even this 'cheap' model feels like it'll last forever. Case is very sturdy too, with plenty of room to slide in small tiling tools such as nibblers, etc.

I expected more
This is my first manual tile cutter so perhaps my expectations were too high after seeing people using them and being so impressed at how easy they are to use compared to electric ones.
My first mistake was thinking I would be able to trim a narrow edge off the tile, nope! If you want to cut a large section off a tile, great, but useless for removing smaller strips.
Once I got the hang of it and realised it's limitations, it was fairly easy to use and gave good-ish results. I was cutting 9.7mm thick tiles. What I didn't like though was that the action didn't seem very smooth. There are others available with ball bearings which glide along the rails, but not this one.
It's also awkward lining the tile up as your view is quite obscured by the rails and handle.
I returned the cutter and will be going for something else instead.

Not worth the money
Although it managed to cut tiles, it felt cheaply made and as in other reviews the ruler is a waste of time. All in all it didn't reflect the cost in my opinion. Thanks to Screwfix returns policy, it went back the following day and was replaced with the Magnusson. A completely different product, the one I should have gone for in the first place.
