I bought this to replace an older cutter which got lost on a job - I was surprised to find the body of the cutter is made of plastic - my other rothenberger cutters are all metal bodied, so time will tell if this is as reliable as the others. Cuts well, so does the job.

This is now the 2nd one I have had as the 1st one was faulty.
After 2 cuts the 2nd one had the same fault? The tension spring inside gets caught in between the two halves and you have to undo the cutter to release it.
I have always bought rothenberger tools as they have always been good quality but this cutter is not.

Having had a couple of pipe slices from other manufacturers, i decided to go for Rothenberger and whilst they are more expensive, the quality is so much better. They are really light and cut through pipes so neatly compared to others. Feels like it will last for years.

I bought a 28mm unbranded pipe cutter from an online vendor. It made one cut with difficulty then broke on the second cut, forcing me to have to pop to Screwfix mid-job for a new one.
I am surprised by how lightweight the Rothenberger cutter is. The blade felt sharper and it cut a painted pipe with no difficulty. Not only that but I noticed there was no pinching on the pipe, whereas using the unbranded one had pinched, tracked even and struggled with the paint.
You might be able to find this item cheaper elsewhere, but Screwfix stock this item in store and they have always given me an excellent service.
