Record Power BS12 305mm Bandsaw 230V
An excellent bandsaw
I spent well over 2 years researching which bandsaw I wanted to purchase. When this one came along it ticked all the boxes for my type of usage. Not too expensive but still with more power than the direct competition. Backed by a 5 year guarantee which beats the others too.
The item came well packed and was delivered by a very helpful delivery driver. I think it's delivered direct from Record. It's a heavy item to moved when boxed so make sure you have people around to help out.
Assembly was pretty easy but the instructions could be clearer. Too much emphasis in the text on things in pictures but the pictures aren't very clear. Managed it in about 90 mins and then spent another hour or so fine tuning it. If you are strong you can easily manage assembly on your own.
Strangely came supplied with a 13mm spanner for some of the main bolts but not a 10mm spanner for some of the other bolts used in assembly. For the money spent it would be nice to see both spanners chucked in! Blade supplied is OK for general purpose but there are specialist suppliers out there who make far better.
Set it up and did some test cuts. All went well and it handled everything I tried it on. Oak, beech, pine, mdf all sliced through like a knife through butter. This is a brilliant machine for the money. Even better when I got a discount on the purchase price too! There are similar machines out there but this is top of it's class for the money in my opinion.

This week i took delivery of the Record Power BS12 305mm Bandsaw 230V and i was impressed as soon as i saw the package, as it came in a strong cardbaord box and was strapped to a metal pallet, with plenty of room all round, so as not to sustain damage from anything around it.
It took me about two hours to go from box to pressing the on button, and although the instruction manual was informative, and included photos, i personally thought that the fixings could have been bagged seperately and marked with their relevant assembly areas, that way you know exactly what part went where and didnt have to waste time working it out.
I have tested the bandsaw on a few pieces of scrap wood, to make sure it works, so this review is only based on a buying and setting up level really
Overall i am very satisfied, and someone buying a product like this should have the logic and experience to build it and use it to a useful and safe levely anyway.
Thank you Record :-)
