Rated 4 out of 5 by Useful screw Good to get a plug and screw together so you know they will work together properly. The screw diameter is 7mm. The plug dia is 10mm The hex head is 13mm It would have been useful to have that info on the spec. 17 Feb 2016

Rated 3 out of 5 by Heavy duty use only Used these to secure wall plates. They required substantial hammering in and when tightening down split some bricks. So OK if you have very strong concrete blocks, say, but otherwise are too strong for the task. Instead use the screwfix unbranded frame fixings which are just fine and excellent value. 21 Nov 2015

The side-hung doors are meranti hardwood too, each approximately 1mx2m. Can you advise how to use the fixings please, or does the pack include instructions? I presume the holes are drilled in the timber, then the underlying brickwork marked and drilled. Next each fixing is inserted through the timber, hammered into the brickwork almost the whole way, then screwed tight? Thanks.

Answer:
Hi,

these certainly are suitable for this application. The number of fixings would depend on the total weight of the doors being hung. Your presumption of the installation method is correct. You can however drill straight through the timber and into the brick if you had everything securely in place (alternatively drill the timber, then drill the brick through the holes in the timber), which will ensure everything is lined up perfectly. Fixings should be hammered in until the plug is flush with the face of the timber.
