Rated 5 out of 5 by Caveat emptor! Buyer beware! A suitable external cable termination gland for this product is NOT available from Screwfix. The weather seal within the Tower 20S external gland is too large to provide a weatherproof seal. 16 Mar 2016

Answer:
An armoured cable is not specifically “rat proof” but will offer more protection than an unarmoured. I am not aware of any LV cables that are designed to be rodent resistant, so I have no other suggested alternative. Armoured cables are also designed for burial so our suggestion would be to do this. A half metre depth (below any subsequent disturbance) is typical.

Please refer to our web site biconcomponents.co.uk.
CW gland kits KA419-51 or KA419-71 will cover this size. Nickel plated are available for more arduous conditions, but all are IP66 rated and suitable for outdoors.

Hi, would this cable (1.5mm2) be suitable for mains voltage LED external lights? Total load just a few tens of watts and short cable run of ca 5 metres. I noticed it states low voltage so was a little unsure.

Answer:
Good afternoon,
This cable is standard armoured power cable which is rated to carry mains voltage. In the industry the term low voltage applies to 1000 volts and less. So it is suitable for single phase 230 volt installations.

Answer:
Thank you for your enquiry. We are unfortunately unable to size cables on kW, as there is usually an associated power factor which will affect the rating. As a guide, 2.5kW at unity power factor equates to 11A. If the run does not exceed 10m, then the 1.5mm² would comforabley carry this load and achieve 1.5% voltage drop. However, we would recommend that you speak with your Electrician and ask him to survey the job first before making your purchase as he will be able to recommend which cable size you will need for the safe installation to power your garden studio. Thank you for chosing Prysmian cable.

Answer:
Depends on the length of the cable run, but 2.5mm is best. as you never know when or if you will pull more than 2.5KW and if you move then the next people etc, also make sure you fit a distro rcd fuse box in the studio as well then wire off this.
