Rated 1 out of 5 by Ignored by mice.... Thought I'd try this after the positive reviews but it seems the mice in my house aren't bothered by it at all. I have seen them walk within 6" of this and ignore it completely. Had better luck with chocolate spread in traps. 30 Apr 2016

Rated 1 out of 5 by LAST FOR AGES Sadly though that is not a good point. Far from rodents being attracted to it, they seem to avoid it. I don't know what they have done to this rodenticide but it doesn't work now. I've used lots of this but since the star anise type of smell was added the rats and mice do not seem to go anywhere near it, but instead choose to chew up the cables rather than eat this poison designed to attract them. Usually in the past I would see evidence of grain bait being scattered showing they had found it and were eating it....now there is not so much as one grain moved from the dishes Not impressed with this new bait, because it definitely does NOT attract them 5 Feb 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by very good stuff I bought some Rentokil Rodine mouse and rat killer but the rats would not eat it. They loved the Pest Stop though! Problem solved. 31 Jan 2016

Answer:
1 pack should kill a rat if completely consumed by that individual, however the most likely scenario here is that the rat is taking it back to a nest. This is not a bad thing as obviously you need to dispose of the whole family not just one individual rat. If you need the rodent to consume the bait in situ it is best to use the bait in conjunction with a bait station.

Answer:
You do not need a trap. These are scatter packs designed to be placed where the mice run. It is best to wear gloves when placing the bait so that you do not transfer strong scents to the bait packs. Full instructions for use are included in the carton.

Answer:
Not the easiest question to address. Firstly it is a poison so it is designed to kill and it doesn't differentiate between species. However it's effects depend on the size of the species in question and also the dose ingested. The active ingredient in this bait is Diffenacoum, a relatively low toxicity Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticide. Generally speaking the average amount required to kill a rat is 9mg / kilo of rat, whilst for mice, it is 4mg / kilo of mouse. For context, for dogs it is 1000mg / kilo, (ie, about a 100 times the amount needed to kill a rat) whilst for cats, its 2000mg / kilo. (ie, about a 200 times the amount needed to kill a rat). You can use this bait in conjunction with a mouse or rat bait station thus alleviating the chance of accidental ingestion.
