Rated 4 out of 5 by Floor varnish Needed this to refresh our en suite timber floor which has previously been varnished. After sanding down this went on a treat, easy to apply and seems to go a lot further than the tin implies. Best of all it cleans up in water! 23 May 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not just for floors! Was looking for a good value varnish to protect some exposed purlins in the loft. The helpful lady at the desk recommended this and good job, too! Not only does it apply well, but the finish is excellent. Definitely no nonsense, and definitely does more than what is says on the tin! 20 Apr 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by No Nonsense! Easy to apply, quick drying - as it says - and it looks great. Seems to be very hard too - I'm going to use what's left to finish an electric guitar! 5 Apr 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pretty good. I used the vanish to some plywood flooring Sanded with 240 grid and then applied a first coat with 10% water. Then added 3 coats. Then a light sand again of 240 and a final coat and she came out great. 16 Feb 2016

Hello. This is not sold as a 'non-yellowing' varnish but it might be worth taking a look at the reviews. Hope that helps.

Answer:
Hi locstar,

Sand down the surface of the first coat because varnish, especially water-based varieties, tends to lift the grain of the wood. But after this first you should be ok to not sand down the following layers.

Thank you for using Q and A.

Answer:
The majority of floor varnishes that we sell also protect the wood, meaning that the varnish would not then dry onto the "stains". You may wish to look for a varnish that is tinted or provides the stain you are looking for as an all in one.
