Removing silicon is a hardy annual that I had been trying to solve for years. Most proprietary silicon solvents don't work and are a waste of money. Meths also doesn't work.
What DOES work though is a sharp Stanley knife/chisel to remove the bulk of the silicon seal followed by spraying with Brake/Clutch cleaning fluid which shrivels up the knife edge of the silicon strip and allows you to remove with a bit of rubbing.
You may have to spray the brake cleaning fluid on a second time to be sure you get all the silicon off but THIS DOES WORK, leaves the surface clean and ready to reapply new silicon.
Doesn't appear to effect acrylic surfaces although I wouldn't try leaving it soaking overnight :(
