Had NN products before with good results so had no problem in buying this expanding foam. However, screw on pipe could not be screwed on tight enough so leakage around the nozzle and no plastic gloves supplied with package so hands were black for 3 days. It's no good trying to wash off because the foam cures in damp conditions! Turning aerosol the opposite way up to expend the air to keep pipe clean also did not work so wasted half a can of stuff because it seized up and had to through it away. Expanding foam is not the nicest stuff to use anyway but I'm thinking of making my millions by designing a nozzle applicator that will work right down to the last drop. This time next year, Rodders, we'll be millionaires.

I have used the gun grade version of this throughout my new self build house and was very pleased with the results. However I tried this hand held version - the flow is difficult to control and continues to flow even after you stop pressing the button resulting in fire foam over the floor, the adjacent work and me! I would never use this again but would recommend the gun grade version which used in conjunction with a good quality gun, is controllable and fills the gaps well.

I used this between 2 sheets of Pink Fire resistant plaster board which is pretty rigid compared to ordinary plaster board. I allowed 2 hours between layers but next morning both sides of the fire board had been pushed out and badly cracked from an original width of 125mm to at least 160mm! looked like a beer gut on both sides: disaster!!

I use this around non flammable / fire proof rigid insulation board to fill the gaps and retain the insulation value.
DO NOT use this as fire stopping around door frames, pipes, cables, timber, holes through ceilings or gaps wider than 20mm - it does NOT pass the fire tests.
Only use in walls between solid materials i.e brick, block, concrete. install to full depth of wall, rake back and point with intumescent mastic to 10mm depth.
Get a copy of the Fire Test Certificate and installation test results. Go to the ASFP website and see how fire stopping should be done.
