Mountfield SP180 45cm 3.5hp 148cc Self-Propelled Rotary Petrol Lawn Mower
worst lawnmower ever
Unless you live at Wembley this mower is useless. It runs too slow so unless you walk at half the pace of your grandmother it is way too slow on the fast setting - I walk about twice the pace and it gets even slower when there is some moss or a slope. It is really hard to start, every slight bump in the lawn it cuts out. It will not cut anything other than completely dry lawn which is impposible in the UK as it keeps getting clogged up as the extraction hole into the grass collector is too small. Any moss or clover and it stops. May work as a hairdryer but not a lawnmower, I'm going to get my Classic 35 (10 years old) repaired and get rid of this - I'm calling the manufacturer Monday as its is not fit for purpose.

There is no doubt that this is a heavy lawnmower but I still manage to use it without a problem. My husband loves it and it mows our lawn in no time at all. My parents advised on buying this mower as they have owned their mountfireld for years and I would agree that tho is a quality product. Having the self propelled makes all the difference and it is easy to use. Yes it takes a good pull to start it but I think thats the same of all petrol mowers. Very pleased with this product especially at the offer price - would definitely recommend.

Makes heavy work of it
Got this to replace a very similar Mountfield push rotary, looking forward to making lighter work of the grass cutting. Well cutting the grass was the easy part; trying to restart the machine after each emptying of the grass box was what exhausted me.I just about pulled my arm out.Have had several petrol rotaries in the past, with no problems, This was a nightmare. I thought maybe I wasn't doing something right. but an experienced local gardener also had a go with it, and gave up after a long struggle. Happily Screwfix refunded it without quibble, and I will definitely continue to deal with them, but I wouldn't buy this particular machine again.

Mountfiled SP180 - Good Price
I Bought this mower on a wet Sunday morning. It was easy to assemble and add oil.
Had a lot of trouble starting for the first time, in the end I removed the spark plug (very easy to do & took 2 mins) which did not seem to be wet from flooding. I then just heated it with the flame from a lighter put it back and the engine then it started on the first pull.
The lawn was very wet, soaking in fact so I just gave it a quick once over to test the machine.
It seemed to work well and I look forward to cutting the lawn properly when it is dry, before the winter sets in.
