Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet little mower Light, compact and easy to use. Building it was no problem (much easier than if you've ever built a 'Billy Bookcase'!) although as some other reviews say, it's quite tricky to get the oil in, you need a small funnel and to take your time. It says it uses straight SAE 30 oil which is quite hard to find but it'll be just as happy on 10w -40 car engine oil, which I had in stock, or it will be OK on modern 5w-30 oils as well. From first start ever it needs 5 pushes of the primer, not the 3 that is claimed. Some reviews said that it was hard to start when hot but mine was just fine, a short pull and it was away. It is so small, light, quiet and smooth that you get the idea that it's not got the power to pull the skin off a rice pudding! but it seemed to zoom through the lawn just fine. Well pleased after first use but only 3 stars for reliability as don't know yet. The old one lasted 12 years before it went rusty and this one has a plastic deck, so it should longer lived. It's no relation to the old Mountfield mowers made in Maidehead. The Mountfield brand, the same as Atco, is now owned by Global Garden Products SpA of Italy, and this mower is designed in Italy and assembled in Slovakia of mixed Italian, Chinese and Slovakian parts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy assembly and easy to use. My old mower died this year, so I bought this Mountfield. It was easy to assemble and started first pull. The mower has a plastic deck so won't rust, like my old one. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Buy. Had been looking at this for some while, did I need it.The answer is most definitely yes. Easy to put together and once filled with oil and petrol fired in first time. Much easier than my old electric mower.why did I wait so long and it was reduced by £25!

Can I use 5w30 oil in the mountfield petrol mower?

Asked by: Kieth1234567
Hello, thank you for your question. I am afraid that oil is not correct. It should be 10w40 - 4stroke oil. We recommended SAE30 or Mountfield MX8555

Engine Spluttering

I have had this lawnmower for around a year and recently the engine has started running erratically when in use, like spluttering and sounding like it might cut out. Any ideas what it could be?

Thick turf

Will this mower be able to cope with thick grass or do I need a more powerful mower?
Asked by: irishjamie
Hello, thank you for your question, thick grass can really vary from person to person. I would suggest maybe speaking to a local dealer who will know your coniditons, just to double check whether this machine would be suitable

hoe do you top up oil without tillting thr mower

Asked by: donthaveonewhy
A small watering can, the type you use for watering the indoor plants is ideal as it has a thin slender neck on it allowing a nice controlled (and non messy) way of pouring oil into those small tricky filler pipes.
