This lead is great, this is the second one I've bought, great surge protection for all devices, useful USB output, feels well built and of quality. The first is still working great.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by YorksIan Neat but Samsung USB issues
I bought this device as I wanted power and USB charge ports available on the top of my desk and it was less than a third of the price of a proper desk power/USB pod you might find in an office environment. On the positive side, it is nice and neat/compact so it fits the bill.
My Blackberry Curve was fine charging from the USB ports, but my Samsung Galaxy Ace smartphone wouldn't even recognise it had been plugged in. I ended up buying a special micro USB cable off ebay which deals with chargers which don't comply with the USB battery charge standards, and this product has no short/resistance across the data pair which the standard specifies for dumb chargers. With the special cable, the Samsung was happy but it cost me time to fathom out what was likely to be wrong, and an extra fiver for the cable (these are typically described as microUSB charge ONLY cables).
Whilst it's true from reading up about similar issues on the internet, that not all chargers comply with the standard, and evidently not all devices complain about such chargers, the fact remains that Samsung is not exactly some obscure brand. So I'm struggling to see why anyone would design a charger that can't be used out-of-the-box with such a major global player's products? (and not bother to tell the customer!). I wasn't pleased and have flagged it to the manufacturer.
A couple of other minor observations:
The mains sockets are inverted and the distance from the bottom of the earth pin to the desk it sits on is 26mm. This might cause issues for the small percentage of "wall warts" where their cables exit upwards rather than downwards so worth checking any such devices.
A power switch on the top of the unit would have been useful (the light which looks like a power switch isn't!).
