Mapei Shower Waterproofing Kit
Easy to use
I only needed mapegum, which was difficult to get hold of quickly on its own. I used waterproof foam board for the wall, which has its own tape system, so didn't use tape that came with product for that. I wanted a belt and braces approach and Mapegum is excellent for waterproofing. Very easy to apply with a brush and goes a long way. I was only going to do the seams and the screw holes but managed to do all of the wall along the bath. Still have a bit left! Used the tape for waterproofing the wall to the floor without a problem. Didn't have to use the primer... so if someone wants some...

Maybe its like comparing a nike trainer to a hitech trainer.
Ive not finished installing the shower yet. So I can't tell you how good it is. However it's definately worth tanking first. I've seen one too many bad examples of people just sticking tiles around a shower tray and blaming leaks on the sealant later...
It's probably easier to apply the magnisium paste with a full size roller, as I used a 4" roller first and it went on a bit too thin. So I'll be giving it 3 coats...

Waste of money
Read the spiel, watched the video and decided I needed to use this expensive kit. Followed the video and instructions to the letter.
When the tiler came to fix the tiles.....he noticed the Mapei film was starting to peel a bit....pulled at it lightly and it peeled off in sheets.....NOT STUCK. He had to scrape it off and start again with another product.
