Rated 4 out of 5 by Good quality water proofing ki Good to use. The quantity of primer was on the low side for the area quoted, The plaster has already been painted and was exceptionally absorbent. I suspect it is a PVA type solution and there was plenty of space in the container for more. The coating itself went on well with a brush - using a mini-roller was much inferior. The final coating adheres well and is tough. Unlike the primer, the quantity of waterproofing was sufficient for the area quoted. I expect it will provide the necessary waterproofing but only time will tell. I would use it again. 17 Nov 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Does what it says on the tin I have just removed my bath and replaced with a walk in shower. I used this to seal the tray and the walls around the shower. The process was very straightforward and it works as it should. This may not be the cheapest on the market but it does the job. I tiled my shower enclosure and added some silicon just to be 100% sure it sealed. 7 Oct 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent kit Second time I have used this excellent product, easy to apply sticks well to the plaster board ( I used moisture resistant board) a good surface to tile onto. Watch the video, follow the instructions and you should have no problems. 15 Jul 2015

Tiles not sticking

Has anyone else had the problem?

I have rendered walls which fully dried out around 2 weeks, I applied the Primer and left to fully dry and then 2 coats of the final application as the instructions. This was allowed to dry for 2 days.

My tiler put the tiles over this and the adhesive is not setting the tiles are still loose after 3 days. All wall areas have stuck and set which are just rendered only the areas with the tanking kit applied will not take.

Thank you for any feed back or information

When applying tiles over Mapei Shower Waterproofing Kit, if a paste adhesive is used the drying times of the adhesive over this impervious coating maybe greatly extended, this is because the adhesive can only dry out solely through the grout joints.

As the rendered background is porous certain amounts of the moisture in the adhesive will be drawn into the background aiding the drying of the ready mixed adhesive.

To aid in speed of application the use of an adhesive such as Mapei Rapid-Set Adhesive Grey 20.0kg (Product Code: 29634) would be advisable, as this type of powdered adhesive cures through chemical reaction rather than drying through the grout joint.

I am at the stage of installing my wet room and have got to the point where I have laid the backer board and need to level the floor out so that the tiles run into the drain. However, I am unsure if I should use the self levelling compound before using the mapei tanking system, or should I tank the room first and then use the self levelling compound?

For this application the falls would need to be built in to the floor prior to the application of the waterproofing. It would not be advisable to cover floors set to falls with leveling compounds as they will always want to follow the fall to the drain.
