Rated 5 out of 5 by Handy saw to have I been looking to buy reciprocating saw for soon time I was able to get one at a good price at the the screw fix show 28 Sep 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top Saw! I bought this for renovating a house and because I already have the Makita 18V system! A great saw. With the right blade has cut a wall down, pruned trees and all general work you'd expect a reciprocating saw to do. Only downside is it gets really hot under the black rubber cover near the front. Especially when cutting tree branches - and I mean HOT! It also likes to "eat" batteries, so carry at least 1 spare and don't expect to use it all day unless you have a shelf full of them. Great saw - wouldn't swap mine! 22 Sep 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Great saw, I use mine nearly everyday. Copes with rough and fine cutting timber. Rips through joists and rafters with ease and being able to put the blade in upside down can help with awkward cuts. I tend to buy the fairly cheap Erbaurer blades for mine as they do sometimes bend if they catch when sawing. I was surprised how well it will cut through lightweight blocks, mortar and old stock bricks if it fitted with a masonry blade. It drains batteries so don't plan on using it all day long unless you have a load of batteries. 12 Mar 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by top tool excellent tool, very powerful not overly heavy and has a nice heavy duty hook to hang on wall or belt easy to change blades, as to be expected does drain batteries quick and that was using a fully charged 4ah cell 8 Jul 2014

The Makita DJR181Z is a bare unit reciprocating saw which means that no batteries are included with the product. If you already have Makita LXT batteries buying bare unit products is often a more cost effective way to extend your tool kit. This recip saw accepts Makita 18V LXT Li-ion batteries.
