Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked OK Like others I have read reports of these low wattage lamps not working on standard transformers as transformers need a minimum wattage to work, but I have now replaced eight 50W lamps, each running off a separate transformer, with these 5W and all work OK with no flickering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good lights but be aware Used these to replace 20w halogen type. The transformers used for the halogen had to be rated to allow for the total wattage of the lamps. The LED equivalents only being 5w each did cause a problem with some of the lights replaced ( LEDs flickered after a few minutes use. To avoid buying new transformers I decided to leave some halogen lamps in place. This appears to have overcome the problem, however of course you loose the added economy that only LEDs will provide. LED light output equalled that of the replaced halogen types.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great retrofit We had MR16 halogen lamps in the kitchen and bathroom. Each with their own Newlec NLTB60 transformer (20-60W). I had two alternatives (based on research): change all transformers to LED drivers, then buy LED lamps on top; or buy lamps with integrated drivers such as Phillips Masters. Baulking at the cost of both solutions, I threw caution to the wind and bought the LAP lamps. All work perfectly. Come on instantly, don't flicker or make a buzz. I reckon it also saves us 75% in electricity running these compared to the halogens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Halogen Replacement I bought these to replace 50w halogen MR16's in our bathroom. I'd read warnings that LED bulbs might flicker, unless the drivers are changed. No need for concern in this particular case as these LAP LED MR16's seem to work perfectly so far. No need to change the drivers. Obviously they are not quite as bright as 50w halogens, but they give off more than enough light for a bathroom/en-suite.

What is the beam angle on these please? I need a narrow beam (approx 40 deg), not a wider angle.

Asked by: Neddric
Hello Neddric, The beam angle of these bulbs is 36°. This is usually stated below the specifications table. Thank you for using Q&A. (LM).

Will these work from a 12 volt AC supply

Want to replace a number of MR16 halogens fed from a 12 volt AC transformer. Think these have been in situ for some time so would think it's a traditional type transformer rather than a modern electronic unit. Will these work from an AC supply.
Asked by: EdwardW
Hello EdwardW, These lamps are unlikely to work with your existing transformer. LED lamps prefer a 'Constant Voltage Driver' type transformer. The traditional type tends to cause the LEDs to flash, shortens the life span of the lamp or the may not work at all. Thanks for using Q&A, KC

Can this lamp be used as a replacement for a Halogen MR16 lamp

i.e. Will the 35-105VA existing transformer which powers 2 x 50w MR16 halogen lamps operate two MR16 LED lamps?
Asked by: Hucced
Hello Hucced, You will be able to replace the halogen with the LED bulb. Thank you for using Q&A

Does this mean that I must remove the transformers from all of the fittings (21 of them throughout the house) currently in place with the 12v halogens?

Asked by: DiyDavy
Hello DiyDavy. If you are going to fit MR 16 Led Lamps you will have to change all your transformers, the one you require would be either: Halolite Led constant current driver 1-9W (66599). Halolite Led constant voltage driver 1-16W (85503). Thank you for using Q&A.
