Bought to use on a shower and front plate shattered. Would not use this switch very cheaply made.

I was in a hurry to get a replacement cooker switch due to the one I had failing on me with no warning.
I went to my nearest screw fix to basically get whatever they had in stock. Thought nothing of buying this at the time then got it home. What a nightmare!
Everything about this is wrong. Eventually I wired it back to front as it was the only way I could get it to fit the existing wiring but even that was a struggle. I thought about taking it back but can't be bothered with hassle. Will just wait for it to break and replace it with a decent switch as no doubt that won't take too long.

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviewer's summary:
"a pretty poor effort, with very little thought going into its design and even less into its construction."
For the price, I wasn't expecting much, but this little beaut failed to meet my meagre expectations by some way.
The location of terminals makes it a real pain to wire - you'll really need the space in a 38mm back box, and it feels cheap, nasty and insubstantial.
Only reasons I didnt sling this back and get an MK were that it was going out of sight in a cupboard next to the oven, so wouldn't be getting frequent use and that its bulbous plasticky ugliness therefore wouldn't be on show to put off Bake Off wannabes from rendering the perfect saucy pudding...

Altogether I think this is a pretty poor effort, with very little thought going into its design and even less into its construction.
Regarding the design, the problem is that the supply terminals are at the BOTTOM of the switch, whereas the Load terminals are at the TOP. This is opposite to pretty much all installations and so the wiring in the back box becomes a mess of crossing wires, not so easy when you're dealing with 6mm T&E. It's particularly a problem when you're replacing an existing switch which is the right way round, as the cables will not always be long enough. A really basic design error which by itself means that you should NOT BUY this product.
Secondly regarding the construction, the switch part is extremely flimsy in comparison to a decent quality product. Also the neon connection is very flimsy and in the unit that I had it was totally intermittent.
Given all of the above I took the one I had purchased back and exchanged it for a MK unit (15973) which was, as expected, excellent in all respects.
