Very smart looking, easy to understand and operate.
With the price of electronics measured in penny's these days, it would be good if this unit was a bit cheaper, although far cheaper than many of it's rivals

This unit fills a need to control the power input of towel rails in order to keep electricity costs down.
A nice unit, but, the pcb style terminals are near the casing and are difficult to get stranded flexible cables into, such as the one to the towel rail..
Worth having though.

I've fitted a number of these and they seem to be a great alternative to leaving the radiator element on all the time as many people seem to. Besides that being VERY uneconomical, the result of draining the system down with the element switched on is an instantly burnt out element. And at Â£40-80 for a new element that proved expensive for a customer of mine who lost 3 in one go!
They are reasonably easy to fit but the wiring points are dead fiddly and only take very short stripped core which means you need to be very careful to get the wires locked in tight. Not hard to do, just as I said, fiddly.
3 stars on reliabilty as I have replaced one of these recently that had only been in situ for a couple of years.
In my opinion its a bit pricey and could be better deisgned to use the space IN the back box rather than sticking out as an ugly carbunkle.

This is a neat box of tricks. Note that if (like me) you are replacing a previous controller unit for a heated towel rail like screwfix used to supply, that this one requires to be fitted in between the heating element and a fused spur, so you may need an additional back box.
Its *lowest* setting is 40% power delivery (increments from 40% to 100% power in 15% units) so here are some calculations of real usage, working below in case I got it wrong!;
600w heating element
40% of 600w = 240w
4.16hrs to use 1kw
24hrs usage = 5.76kw
86p per day @ 0.15p per kw
Running costs Â£315 per yr
250w heating element
40% of 250w = 100w
10hrs to use 1kw
24hrs usage = 2.4kw
36p per day @ 0.15p per kw
Running costs Â£131.40 per year
The above are based on 24/7 usage, so vary as appropriate.
