John Guest Speedfit 22RKP Slip Coupler Repair Kit 22mm
Plumbing Heath Robinson style!
Whatever you were expecting, this will not be it. Although the item comes complete with instructions, a first for Speedfit, they are sealede in the packet.
The unit starts out 190mm long and remains 190mm long!
Certainly the bore reduces to 15mm for about 90mm, but unless you have a water softener and very slow float valves in the tank and cistern this is unlikely to be a problem, in fact comparable with many service valves.
A repair can be effected with no more than a pipe-slice, perhaps even just a hack saw blade, unfortunately as Screwfix do not seem to keep it as a stock item in their stores you are likely to spend a few days as the little Dutch boy, if the problem occurs over a weekend or public holiday.
However, it will get you out of trouble eventually, perhaps we should keep one or two along with the candles, matches, bottled water, corned beef, torch and spare batteries!

Not what I expected.
I had a pipe into which I needed to fit a drain valve but the pipe was fixed at the top and the bottom so there was no play. The slip coupler looked like an ideal solution. However, although sold as 22mm the bore is far less than a 22mm pipe and so will restrict the flow. This was no good for me so I returned it and had to employ some dodgy plumbing using half overlapped soldered joints!

this saved my bacon on a job... was a simple fix, cut pipe using template provided and slip ends on and join, tighten up and jobs a good un... took all of 10 mins from opening packet to pipe being repaired... it tis a bit pricey but seeing as there was no other (practical) way to fix was well worth it
