Have you wondered why a screwdriver slips off the valve head?
It is because it is designed to be operated with a coin, so that in an emergency you do not need special tools.
For the record, once the item is a few years old and furred up, one penny, five penny and twenty pence pieces fit the slot, but do not have sufficient purchase, a tenpenny piece, has the puchase but is not a happy fit into the slot.
Perhaps the dollar and euro have better purchasing power. Ho Ho!
Perhaps Screwfix could organise a competition to suggest what kind of emergencies this valve might be used for?

Looks to be full bore. Used for local isolation on kickspace heater installation. Screwdriver slot is also threaded so I guess you could fit the handles that come with washing machine valves, if required.
