I purchased this to replace an existing unit that had lasted over 10 years.
My parents have always had an In-sinkerator so it is a familiar appliance to me, I guess the may be on their 3rd in 40 years.
When I bought my property there was one already installed, but rusted up and jammed, so I replaced that with another model 45 over 10 years ago. I am replacing this one because the grinding plate had become rusted up and the hammers jammed (they will over time if you don't use it regularly - or "maintain" it by grinding some ice cubes or lemons regularly)

after 5 yrs of minimal use,the plastic casing cracked, water spraying everywhere..this is the cheaper option..you get what you pay for!!

I have had this unit fitted just about two years although maybe just less. While it used to munch its way through anything (chicken carcasses, etc) it now seems to have lost its appetite. So where things like mere potatoes peeling were once almost puréed they now get only chomped into much larger pieces which clog up the waste pipe with ease.
There would seem to be no way to replace just the grinding elements which is a bit rubbish.
