Hitachi M12VE/J7 2000W Router 230V
I bought this specifically to cut 40mm solid oak kitchen counters. The machine certainly has enough power to do the job, is very well built and heavy, which helps keep it in place. When powering up, there is a noticeable torque kick, just to remind you that this machine will break your wrist if you don't respect it.
I would point to one design fault; the electronic speed control wheel is loose, which means that vibration from the cutting changes the speed mid-cut.
Apart from this, the router is as good as machines at twice the price.

For those having trouble with the collet and nut.
Please be aware that the collet needs to be snapped into the nut, so that they are 'together' as one unit. If you don't do this, then the cutter and collet will indeed become stuck in the machine. They need to be connected for the nut to release the collet.
Usually only one nut is supplied and the two, 1/4 and 1/2" collets. Each time you change collets, you need to click or snap the collet into the retaining nut. Don't do this and you will run into the stuck cutter problem.
To remove the cutter, slacken the nut, but keep turning it. It will become tight again. Keep going again with the spanner. It's this second slackening which pulls the collet and the cutter from the machine shaft.
This is not a fault with the machine, but a common mistake made by people new to these types of routers.

Great piece of kit as you would expect from this brand!

Works well. Poor collet
Was satisfied with the machine, until I switched to the 1/4 inch collet. Had to use a hammer to remove it. I tried again with a brand new router bit, tightening just past hand tight. Exactly the same problem. I am now returning the machine for a replacement. Fingers crossed
