This is a very useful tool, but it's not well finished with some quite sharp edges to the metal, and it requires oiling and the cable will require greasing along its entire length before use for it to work smoothly. So, wear gloves when you use this and try to understand how it works before you start - the instructions for the critical part, which is releasing the cable tension, are not well explained. But once you understand how it works, it's quite easy.
Also be warned that the intermediate pulley assembly is badly designed and it's very easy for the cable to slip down between the pulley and the housing and jam there if any load is put on it whilst in this position.
Having said this, it's still a very useful piece of kit for the money.

Useful bit of kit but it is essential that it is used with care and attention. Wear working gloves and keep fingers well out of working parts. Vital to keep moving parts well lubricated to avoid corrosion and do not overload.

Bought this to pull car whose brakes had stuck on being parked for some time., hitched it to towing hook of rear of second car expecting it to break or snap when in use, but it pulled 1.5 ton car uphill no problem releasing brakes from discs, very good price for a very handy tool, going to be great in the garden when the fence posts need changing. Looked on internet for price guide, and compared favourably.
