Heavy Duty Door Bolt Polished Brass 150mm
For the price this bolt is a solid product and looks fine against a dark background, matching well with other brass door furniture such as a Yale lock. The hidden sliding surfaces of the bolt are permanently lubricated and padded with gum-backed silicone tape which makes the sliding action quiet and scratch-free. The only note of criticism I would make is that the supplied screws are only 1" long and in case of attempted forced entry this may prove a little too short to hold the bolt retainer in place for long as it only has two screws.

This purchase was a replacement for one that failed on first use. The product looks good but that is it. The polish is great but it's poorly cast brass badly put together. With 3 of my bolts the screws fell out since the threads were poorly cut, the fourth had been forced in at an angle and cracked the casting. Better to pay twice as much and get something that is serviceable

Make a bolt for the door
I have fitted 4 of this size of bolt to two doors and 20 or more of the 100mm size and found they need a bit of attention prior to fitting.
Take it apart if necessary and make sure there is plenty of tension in the flat spring. Assemble the parts and tighten the knob with grips.Throw away the screws that come with them and use yellow zinc plated goldscrew for a more reliable job.
I agree in part to what others are saying and it should not be necessary to "repair" the bolt or use different screws but at the price and looks of the unit - I really don't mind.

4 broken bolts
Bought 4 of these to put on cupboard doors. I should have headed the other reviewers. The knobs kept falling off. 1 snapped, 2 bent and the other sheared the know off. 4 out of 4 failed.
Given that these seem to be the same issues as others have found, why does Screwfix continue to sell them. Making a decent bolt is not difficult.
