Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made driver This is a well made driver there is no flickering. A particular creature that I like is the two terminals for Live and Neutral making it easy for connecting in loops. I only gave 3 for reliability as i have not used it long enough to say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just the job Had flickering led downlights but no more. Easy to wire in but make sure you get the right version. Decent price too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stops flickering 12v LED's I had 11 12v MR16 downlights in my kitchen taking 35w each. I decided to change to 7w led's instead. Most were ok with existing transformers but a couple flickered. I swapped the original transformers for these and this solved the flickering problem. There's no difference in the brightness but I have noticed that these two take a fraction of a second longer to light up. It's not worth the expense and time to change the rest !

Could you clarify whether this driver is suitable for a single bulb such as the Sylvania, or should I use a constant Voltage transformer?

Have tried both Halolite LED drivers now (constant voltage and constant current) to power a single LAP MR16 5W LED downlight but it just flickers. Have tried three different LAP 5W MR16 lamps but they all flash on and off. All were purchased from Screwfix. Can you please advise which MR16 LED lamps or drivers that Screwfix sell will actually work together properly?

Answer:
MR16 LED lamps were designed as direct replacement lamps for standard halogen MR16's however not all transformers will accept the low wattage of a MR16 LED lamp as the load is so small it sees it as a failed lamp and just shuts down.

Good old fashioned wire (magnetic) transformers work the best (this is from lab based testing carried out by us in conjunction with lamp manufactures). You do not want a constant current driver for sure, that is a whole different technology, what you want is a constant voltage, or an ordinary transformer, but ensure it outputs DC and can operate below 10W (ones written with 10-50W fro example would probably flicker or just flash once then go out - but not all) it is a bit of a minefield if you don't know.

Another option is to use GU10 lamp and just get rid of the transformer and use a new GU10 lamp holder - this is often done in commercial LED retro-fit situations as it then means there is no transformer to fail. Not suitable for shower lights etc.
