by TheMainManchanic No problems with this spring!
I was almost put off purchasing this spring as a few reviewers had reported problems with the pins falling out. However I went ahead and purchased the spring which was to be fitted to a wrought iron gate hung on a brick wall, so the fitting was not quite as straight forward as it would have been if fitted to a wooden gate and post.
I am glad that I went ahead and made the purchase because I had no problems with the fitting and functionality of the product which works flawlessly if fitted correctly following the manufacturers instructions.

I have several gates and have this type of spring on all of them. Recently one of these has gone 'soft' and no longer closes the gate.
I bought a new one from screwfix and already it is the car waiting to be taken back for a refund. These springs can be quite tricky to fit - take care not to damage your fingers, they need to be tensioned with the supplied rod which is inserted into the adjuster. In this case the holes of the adjuster have not been drilled deep enough to secure the rod properly and so it slips out - hence the spring is unusable.

I clearly had a very different experience to the other reviewers.
The rod supplied for mine was way too thin for the holes so kept slipping out while trying to increase tension, this, plus the pins not fitting very well caused them to pop out at every attempt and those little things are very difficult to find once they hit the floor.
Eventually they both vanished somewhere leaving me with a useless chunk of metal screwed to my gate.
I found this product very disappointing.

Having not read any of the reviews before I bought the gate spring and when fitting it found none of the pins fitted the holes so I had to remove it so as to drill all hole deeper to take pins, this was only downfall and suggest screwfix sorts this problem out
