I don't know where the items recent reviewers bought are coming from - mine was very poor. Needed a replacement as the first one supplied did not have the spring properly hooked and kept slipping out of the end block. Also as noted by other critical reviewers the pins (and tool) slip out of the block when winding on the tension - I have a bruised finger to show for it.
Generally poor quality and no sign of that improving in the near future.
It works - but only just. I'd look elsewhere and pay a bit more for a better product another time.

Wanted an easy to fit spring to close my garden gate and this works fine.
As others have said the pins are a poor fit - far too loose - but if you are careful it can be done and the tension of the Spring keeps the pins in place.
Working well so far.

As other reviewers have found, the tensioning pins are a loose fit so they simply fall out. If you do manage to wedge them in long enough to wind on some tension they then fly out! Without the ability to tension the spring this gate closer is useless.

This is the first time I've had to return an item to Screwfix. I bought two of these springs and both had tensioning holes that were not milled out properly, being too shallow to use the tensioner bar without slipping out. I also feel that the tension pins should have screw threads to hold them securely in place whilst installing.
Took back and opted for an alternative style of closer which proved to be much better.
