Forge Steel Telescopic Tree Pruner
Rubbish tree pruner
I purchased this pruner to finish off a job that I had started with a Spear & Jackson pruner "the spring came off the spear & jackson tool and unfortunately ended up in the pond". I read the reviews on this product and thought it would do, just to finish the job off....Sooooo wrong, this tool may be alright for pruning roses, but for pruning tree branches it comes up well short, It will not cut through 20-25mm branches, I am well disappointed with its performance.

Nicely finished but poorly adjusted. .(1)Main joint needs tightening until spring action only just allows blade return. This assists ratchet to function properly.. Installation of a cup spring washer could be an advantage here (2).Saw blade fixing bolt benefits from friction retention afforded by centre-punch crimps on gap line corners. This avoids the wish for a third hand when attending to the blade.(3)Untrimmed Flash on the eccentric pivot of the locking mechanism can cause difficulty in achieving a proper locking action due to internal drag on the loose collar..

Excellent value pruner/saw
Briefly used the lopper and saw on old willow branches. Overall I'm very satisfied with the design and build quality. Saw blade is a bit 'whippy' but didn't bend. Lopper worked well.

Does the job!
Not the sturdiest telescopic pruner I have ever used but it it does the job and is keenly priced. One niggle is that the twist and lock mechanism for extending the length often came loose which allowed the head to turn. It was necessary to tighten and continue. No big deal but a niggle.
