Forge Steel Heavy Duty Tape Measure 10m
Terrible, terrible bit of kit
If I could find the reciept, this would be going back. As I couldn't, it went in the bin after 2 months of light DIY when it refused to retract.
Complete waste of 9 quid.
The "Auto lock" facility means you've got to press the button to make the tape retract, however it doesn't always lock so it'll sometimes retract when you don't want it to, and managed to start playing up after 2 to 3 weeks. 5 weeks later it completely died and wouldn't retract at all.
Went in the bin - avoid it.

Not a good buy
Bought this for a large shed project and it started having problems retracting the first day. Today it wouldn't retract at all and I've binned it. Just about the worse product I've bought from Screwfix

10m Tape Measure
Works very weel and feels solid, but this was my second one. On the first one the locking mechanism was not working and I found this out after I got home.
If you buy one then check it before you leave the store.

Got it taped
The forge steel heavy duty tape measure has almost got it all. Reasonable length (10m) Measurements in both Metric and Imperial. Easy to read, with a self locking mechanism which means it stays put when you stop pulling instead of having to manually operate a locking button. Robust construction. The price is a steal. The only downside that I have found is the button which normally locks, unlocks, and can easily be caught, retracting the tape, and the shoe is on the thick side, 2mm, which has to be taken into account when measuring. Otherwise a great piece of kit at a give away price.
