I've used these fixings for quite some time now and they look fantastic. I hate to stand back and look at some cast iron effect downpipes I've just installed to see screws, it defeats the whole object of using cast iron effect guttering and downpipes.
I've never had a head come off yet, fixing into brick (with a plug) or wood, as long as a pilot hole is drilled in the wood first, as should be common practice.
I use a socket set to drive them (see picture) as I fear an impact wrench would damage them.
Only downside is the price, rather steep for what they are, and I can't find anyone else who does anything similar.

The head of this screw is made of cheap plastic - its mashed up before its half in. Truly useless.
Would look good if it worked.

Once installed these could look good, but how are you meant to use them. The heads are made of PVC, possibly Torx Design, Using PVC as the driving connection to screw into wood is doomed to failure.
Ah that will be the 12mm, 12 point star head socket, what a pain another "special tool", hope I never have to take these out again.
